Yameriga - Ghana: Latest News December 2011
Yameriga News!
Thank you to everyone who joined in the Yameriga 50th Birthday celebrations. We had a wonderful time and, although the event was not a fundraiser, we managed to make over ₤700 towards the AfriKids Emergency Room at the Medical Centre.
Now we have added to this the ₤300 proceeds from “The Snowman’ fairylit show, attended by more than 100 of our youngest children. This means that we have already reached our first target that will allow us to equip the Emergency Room with an examination couch, weighing scale and blood pressure monitoring equipment. These essential items will undoubtedly save lives. We will be sending a cheque to AfriKids before the end of term.
Early in the 2012 Ama Atteen from AfriKids will be visiting Ravenstone and will talk about the work being carried out in Yameriga and Northern Ghana.
Thank you for your generous support.
Ravenstone & Yameriga
Dear Ravenstone Parents,
Ravenstone’s link with Yameriga School has been developing for ten years now. Over the last couple of years we have been given wonderful support by AfriKids, the charity working only in Northern Ghana. This means they know Yameriga village and the communities in the area very well and understand the enormous challenges being faced. All AfriKids project are sustainable and they have an excellent website that shows their work. www.afrikids.org
AfriKids now has a huge opportunity and has asked us to give two minutes of our time to make it possible. The chair of AfriKids Medical Advisory board, Nick Eastcott has been shortlisted for a second Vodafone World of Difference Award. This time, the Grahame Maher Award, would provide AfriKids with a funding package of £100,000 to help develop the AfriKids Medical Centre, healthcare training and delivery across Northern Ghana.
