The PTA runs a number of events on an annual basis; last year it was 20. These include the principle fund-raising events of the Summer and Christmas Fairs and the much loved cake sales three times a year!
Some events are pure fund-raising events while others are merely fun activities for the Ravenstone children, such as Ravenstone’s Got talent – our version of The X Factor, and our International Evening, a celebration of all the ethnic groups represented in the school.
Please be aware that due to dwindling interest, we have decided to close the school lottery.
We will of course, be looking into new ventures to continue to raise funds for the school and will keep you informed of these.
If you have any suggestions, please contact us!

Other examples of past events (please note that this list does not include events and activities that are organised and managed by the school or teachers):
FoR Annual General Meeting. Each September you are invited to join the FoR AGM to hear about our achievements over the previous academic year, details on how funds are being allocated, events planned for the next year and also to vote for people who have nominated themselves for roles in the FoR.
Cake Sales. How many cakes and biscuits do you think the children at Ravenstone can eat? Come along to find out – it’s hundreds! 3 times a year, after school, our hall becomes a bakery shop of cakes and biscuits (kindly donated by the families of Ravenstone) and our children relish the opportunity to choose their own goodies. So whether you’re a rocky roader or courgette cake guru, please join in the fun.
Christmas Fair. Our school becomes winter wonderland for a fun-packed afternoon that the children adore. There is everything from Santa’s Grotto with real elves, to a Secrets Room where children choose and wrap presents for their family, and a Christmas Wish Tree. The big kids will be happy too with specialised crafts, christmas decorations, mince pies and mulled wine! We love to see as many of you as possible enjoying some Christmas Cheer.
Christmas Tree Sale. Every year we sell to quality non-drop Christmas trees to the friends and families of Ravenstone. We have an ordering service where parents can select the height of their trees. Further details can be found on the FoR Facebook page as well as on the noticeboards at school.
School Disco. With separate sessions for younger and older children this is your chance to see some great moves on the dance floor. Complete with our resident professional DJ Morris, who will bring a smile to everyone’s face.
Early Years Party. This is a special treat for our youngest scholars. The nursery playground is transformed to a toddler paradise with games, entertainment and yummy treats. We have even been known to have donkey rides!
Summer Fair. Roll up...Roll up its time to play some games and have some fun at the most eagerly awaited event of the year! We have a great variety of stalls from Crockery Smash and Splat the Rat to Tombola and bouncy castle, there is something for everyone. When the school gates open, the enjoyment begins and laughter can be heard throughout Balham. Click the link to see the video of the brilliant Ravenstock 2015 and the very first and equally brilliant Ravenstock 14.
The FoR also run a number of schemes throughout the year that provide a regular income to the school so please support them.
School Clothing. Joggers, tee shirts, coats/fleeces and sweatshirts with the Ravenstone logo are available and they reasonably priced and great quality. Please collect an order form from the office.
Sponsorship. Various local estate agents sponsor our Summer and Christmas Fair each year by putting up boards outside our homes to advertise the events. The school gets £15 per board displayed so this is a great way to make money. Mick from the Hildreth Street Market kindly supplies all the fabulous fresh fruit for our Sports Day which the children get to enjoy.
Make your own Christmas Cards. This is a scheme that the children love. The children are invited to produce their very own Christmas card, reproduced for you to send to friends and family. Details are sent out before the Autumn half term about this.
Booking Your Holiday. The ethically sound agents, Travel Matters, pay £10 to the school per Ravenstone family member booking a holiday through them.
