*********CHAMPIONS OF ALL WANDSWORTH AGAIN*********

1. SPORTS NEWS: i) SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS. a) 17 Y5/6 represented Wandsworth at the Aviva games on 15/1/11 and competed with skill and determination. The borough team finished second overall b) On 18/1/11 the school squad were in the regional round at Tooting and in a close finish both boys and girls teams won and progressed to the grand borough final featuring the top six schools on 1/2/11. Here, competition was very fierce (we have been champions for the last two years!) and unbelievably our 24 Y5/6 boys and girls were again BOROUGH CHAMPIONS for the third consecutive year! There is a write-up and photo of the victorious squad on the website. Morris Tolaram and Fiona Westwood were ecstatic after another brilliant nail-biting finish! Fiona even won the coaches’ race too! ii) FOOTBALL: a) On 11/1/11 we participated in a 7-a-side tournament at Wandle Leisure centre involving teams from 20 Wandsworth schools, playing for the opportunity to represent Chelsea at the regional finals. Richard Huie was really proud of our squad of boys who were in a very tough group, eventually finishing third, narrowly drawing against the overall winners, Heathmere Primary. b) On 8/2/11 we took a team of Y5/6 girls to a competition again at the Wandle. This was the first competitive opportunity for most of the girls and they represented Ravenstone with distinction and pride.
2. PTA NEW YEAR CHILDREN’S DISCOS: Many thanks to all the PTA members for organising the children’s New Year discos on 21/1/11, especially Freddie and Morris for spinning the discs. Everyone had a fabulous time!
3. NEW WINDOWS: We have finally secured funding to replace the windows of the final elevation on the building. Work will start during the Easter holidays and obviously there will be some disruption but as ever we are keen to minimise the impact on the day to day running of the school. More details nearer the time.
4. JEFF DAVIDSON: Thank you for your kind donations to Macmillan Cancer. We raised just under £500. I would also like to thank all parents/carers for being so supportive when we paid our final respects to Jeff on the afternoon of 1/2/11.
5. MARATHON WOMAN: Fiona Westwood in Year One is running the London Marathon with her fiancé Toby on Sunday 17th April (any cheers on the day are more than welcome!) They are running on behalf of The Stroke Association and in memory of her mother who suffered a fatal stroke in 2009. 6. Another date for the diary is Friday 4th March where Fiona and Mary will be having a ‘Marathon Munchies’ cake stall to raise money for The Stroke Association and Yameriga our Link School in Ghana. Please bring any baking donations on the Friday morning to Mary’s room and then come and treat yourself at 3.15pm!
7. FINALLY: We break for half term next Friday 18th February and the children return on TUESDAY 1st MARCH (Monday 28th is an Inset Day, staff in school, but not children)
